Background information:
The subject of this dissertation concerns the distressing situation in Africa, where mothers have little or no access to HIV / AIDS medication, due to lack of transport (days walking) or a refrigerator (medication needs to be kept cool.) Quirine Fillekes comes with nice (partial)solutions in this thesis. I wanted to capture the warmth, hope and love for Africa that Quirine radiated in a cover illustration. Around the woman, you can see first a close ‘protection’ area made of the African flag, and the second one further away made of the European flag – symbolizing Europe working together with Africa. The soft-touch laminate gives the book an extra soft ‘feel’.
